Beautifulllll Hannahhh! I've photographed Hannah before and she's always so fun to photograph. As per usual though, it was a damp day but my new flash adaptor made it seem all autumn which was pretty. The rest of the shoot is here. I brought a new wireless flash adaptor in Hong Kong and still hadn't used it yet until now! It's really fun, burns up the batteries fast though, I suppose that's what I get for buying it off the market. But I can't wait to explore with it more. I did a photo shoot with Ksenia, Sam and Vladimir in the house, they're so pretty :)

We don't do this as often nowadays, but Antony and me usually have a 'photo' day once a year. I think in the past 6 years though, we've only done 3 haha. So we are going to actually make it yearly from now on! As when I do photo shoots with Hannah, it always rains or is a crappy day whenever we photograph! The weather is never on my side for us. Even though we've had some crazy heatwaves in April, seemingly the only day it's gloomy is today. But we had loads of fun running around a scary forest. I think Antony suits the 'serial killer' look too well in some photos here too.... Better quality photos here.

I did a collaboration piece with a lovely stylist called Harriet in London. It was for her FMP magazine called Joie. It was a great team of people and my awesome partner in crime Laura came to assist me. The theme was festival makeup, which was so much fun. Rachael was a genius at creating the colours so quickly. Hong Kong Street Style

In my spare time, I started a small project for myself to photograph some Hong Kong street style. Definitely harder than I anticipated through a language barrier! And here I thought my chinese was improving, it really wasn't. Didn't help I ran out of business cards too. But this is something I would like to continue in London or in general everywhere after having so much fun doing Southsea Style. At least I'll know what to say in the right language! Macau

It's been a really fun Chinese New Year (week) with lots of eating and seeing all my family.. Apart from my own family but that's not the point. My last bit of play before moving back to England was to go to Macau. It's a really beautiful place, apart from the brown sea water surrounding the island, that was really gross. Alan took me around which was super useful as I got to see the main and hidden areas of Macau. It really is a land of casinos, casinos everywhereeee. I went gambling a few times, luckily won my money back! Got a bit carried away. Some of the people there are crazy though, I thought most of the people on my table were doing really well as they had dozens of chips but I realised they would just lose it all and exchange £500 a go for more chips. No wonder you can't gamble in Hong Kong, everyone would definitely go bankrupt.

But if I DID have more money on me to spend, I would have loved to see the City of Dreams underwater show. The cheapest ticket was £60 though so that was not happening! It would have been a nice experience though. Here's a youtube video to see part of the show. I'm really sad to leave Hong Kong, but it's time to go homeee and start a new life again and a new adventure.

Hong Kong - January 2011!

It's the new year! And what a fun and busy new years it was. I've never been trapped in-between so many people in my life. There was even a 45 minute queue to get to Soho. Looooong! But regardless, George informed me that on the 1st, there would be the world record longest dragon dance in the world, so we went to Tsim Sha Tsui to watch it. The first 5-10 minutes was awesome.. but then realised it REALLY was the longest dance ever. As George was only here for another few days, we packed into as much run-around time as we could. We went to The Peak, The Big Buddha and Ocean Park too. I didn't put any photos up of the panda as it was quite the disappointment of my beautiful imagination of a panda.

I thought this was hilarious. People in Hong Kong really hate the sun. It was quite cold today with some sunshine but even that was too much for this person.

Hong Kong - December 2010 Part 2

George came to visit at the end of December which was long awaited and really really nice. And for once, with my wonderful direction skills (mass lies) I could take him around Hong Kong without being lost.... much. Surprisingly, because of work and having to deliver things to clients and meeting my co-workers at different parts of Hong Kong, I think my direction skills are waaay better than England, which is pretty unfortunate haha.

Hong Kong - December 2010

Hannah and Rachy left HK, le sigh. We went to the Peak to watch the sunset and went to the Snoopy Cafe before their departure. Although we were originally heading to the Hello Kitty Cafe, APPARENTLY it had shut down for years! Although the last time I did go, I was about 12 years old. We also tried to go to the Modern Toilet Restaurant which I saw on the news in England and my friend Steff went to in September....but that also shut down! A link to the restaurant is on this link, I personally thought it's awesome. But I'm guessing it was too gross for chinese people. There's still these restaurants in Taiwan and Japan, boo.

I went to Park Island with my aunt and cousin to go fishing as well and to see the famous light-up bridge from the Island which was really cool. Caroline also took me to Kowloon Park which was beautiful. Although no 'authentic' haha. Everything was so modern.

Hong Kong - November 2010 Part 2

One of my hobbies is actually fishing.... as shock to most of my friends. It's something I find really relaxing and really excited (if you ever get a bite) so I was really happy when Caroline suggested going fishing in Lau Fau Shan in the mountains. It's also a popular area to see the red sunset which I was really excited about and an area where you can (kind of) see China. I've never been to China before and I don't know if I will have time but otherwise, it'll be another year.

With a big team effort, Caroline and me yonked up a yummy fish for us all to eat. We had a barbecue with lots of seafood in the sun. It was a really hot day. I've only ever gone to HK in the summer (where it's way too humid, I want to melt on the floor) so the 25-30 degrees weather is great without the humidity. Also caught a nice tan :) The sunset was really really beautiful and there were at least a hundred people already set up their kit to take photos of it.

One of the most exciting and happiest times so far is Hannah and Rachele came to Hong Kong! Was very excited to see them and explore and go drink in Lan Kwai Fong. Marc let us know about Victoria Prison which has art exhibitions once in a while. Never having been in a real prison before, I thought it was really scary! When you're by yourself in a quiet cell, it really does feel so haunting. Otherwise the exhibitions were great and really unique.

What I will always remember about going out drinking in Lan Kwai Fong is the man with no hands who kept poking me with his stumps. I ran away twice. Hannah and Rachele laughed at me alot. We woke up to scorching hot weather and went to sunbathe on Rachele's granny's rooftop. it was a beautiful view from Causeway Bay.

Hong Kong - November 2010

With only the weekends to run around during the day, I've already found my favourite place to go - Tsim Sha Tsui harbour. I think I have more-so an obsession with sunsets here than England 'cause I'm never ever in a place where I can take a photo of a good one!

My lovely friend Caroline took me around Tsim Sha Shui to look at the sites. After we finished lunch, we walked to our next destination when she pointed at a random $10 bill floating past our feet. I proceeded to pick it up (hoping I wasn't on some sorta joke camera) whereas a bin-man legged it down the street chasing a $20 bill. We proceeded to treat ourselves to McDonalds icecream.

Tsim Sha Tsui is very lively and interesting. I spent the day gawking at buildings and everything going around. I think it'd be a nice place to work in the future :)

Whilst walking around on a lovely Sunday, I came across a bridge with hundreds of maids surrounding themselves in boxes. In Hong Kong, it is very common to have a live-in housemaid who usually comes across somewhere else in Asia. Sundays are their days off and usually, I see them just hanging around in cafes, sitting around the streets and so on and so forth... But nothing like this! It's like 'playing house'.

Already in November, I'm attempting to make my way around everywhere on the MTR Map which is definitely impossible in less than 4 months but by the first half of November, I've been to quite a lot of places already.

During a day off, I went to visit Leo's hood in Sheung Shui. As I've seen a lot of modern Hong Kong, Leo took me to some old estates around the area and gave me a history lesson :). We also went to a park where people often throw away unwanted pet fish or turtles, and they end up growing absolutely huge!

Christmas decorations are also piling up around the cities. I found no one really cares for the actual tradition, it's just the novelty people are into. But I am amazed by the details they've gone into it. A lot more extreme that what I usually see in England (unless it's London)

Hong Kong - October 2010

This was my first time going abroad by myself, let alone working abroad, so I was pretty scared! It had been 4 years since I've been in Hong Kong, so it was nice to catch up with the cousins and relatives. I had a week to myself to settle in before I started working so it was nice to be able to meet people and to go places where I hadn't gone before. I was lucky to have my friends Leo and Marc to show me around and look after me when needed to.

After seeing so many fishes and turtles and the such sold everywhere, I had the urge to buy my first pets! I love them so much. It's something little but at least it's like having two mini housemates.

Chinese cuisine, which I dearly missed in HK. There's so many types of food which just can't be brought in England and everything's so fresh here. Although it was difficult for people to adapt to that I no longer eat meat and that I'm a pescatarian now, seafood is amaaaaazing out here. Although the amount of food is hard not to turn down.... I'm thinking of the future weight gain already....

Can't beat cute chinese food ideas (the jelly desserts), although the salmon/wasabi pizza was a bit bizzare.....

Leo invited me on a bike ride around New Territories. It was great fun and a great way to see the 'scapes. Although I have to say, holding an SLR whilst riding a bike is one of the most ridiculous ideas I've ever had. I saw a lot of people crash into one another and I almost did too. Still in one piece though and got to see an amazing sunset.

EJ & Cesca at Pytchley Farm

Last year, I did a 6 photo series project at Pytchley Farm with EJ and Will involving lingering spirits. Some photos can be seen on this link. I've always wanted to do a fashion shoot on a farm and thought it would be a great chance to reshoot at Pytchley Farm again with two great models. EJ and Cesca were wonderful to work with and very dedicated! I have to say, standing in stilettos on one foot on-top of a tractor is no easy business.

Infact, strutting in muddy fields and hay as well as running around in the rain is not easy. One moment it was hot and sunny, the next second it was chucking it down with rain. We used this to our advantage though to create some amazing shots. One of my favourite shoots of the year definately, and I loved the outcome of the shots.

Before going to Hong Kong, I felt the need to squeeze in some photo shoots before I go away. And to make use of the lovely summer weather that's soon disappearing too. Southsea Style

Besides from my 'Masquerade in Time' project, my final major project and exhibition piece was a personal project which involved my friends at Uni. Clearer versions of the photos can be seen on my flickr set, along with the description of the project. I really, really enjoyed this project to be honest, but it was difficult! Photographing and organising 44 photo shoots in around two months is strangely very, very mind-blowing. I remember for 5 days, I was doing 4 photo shoots a day, I was going mad! But it was worth it in the end and along with the photographs, I created a book alongside it, and a matching book called 'Waste Adventure' which is a photo journal of my three years at Portsmouth University.

After Graduation..

Birthday was absolutely wonderful, as was Wireless festival, as was Graduation, as is Summer! Who'd think, when I was at college, all I moaned about was not wanting to go to Uni. And here I am, an actual graduate of a 2:1. Uni has seriously been the best three years of my life, and I don't regret a thing. I admit, I messed around ALOT during first and second year but I proper put my head down when third year came.. probably because my laptop broke and I lost EVERYTHING which brought deadlines to stress. But I did it! And I'm proud of everyone else who graduated this summer. :)

The plans now.. I'm happily doing one-off photography jobs for clients, making money saving up for Hong Kong. I have two jobs lined up, one as a photographer's assistant and another as a product photographer. Time to learn again. I'm pretty scared to be honest as I'm not fluent in chinese at all, but this is the chance to get my language barrier in gear! Only a month left and then it's the proper world! Literally. After Hong Kong, it's learning to drive and looking for a new job. I'm hoping for the best.

Masquerade In Time

I actually forgot what my email was to my blog until now, fail! Lots of things to update. I had two exhibitions (One in Portsmouth, one at Brick Lane at the Free Range gallery in London) and I showcased this series in both of them. Both shows went really well and had lots of lovely feedback.

"The series of photographs explores the development of performance, pin-up and inspirations that burlesque had aspired from. It is often know that fashion circulates and revolves in time, putting us in a constant circle of time eras which revisits past fashion attires into our modern time. Masquerade in Time looks into a construction of identity, portraying the different time eras of burlesque."

I finally brought a new camera - the Canon 5D Mark II, absolutely beautiful quality. I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet but I did a small photo shoot with my beautiful Anna to try it out, and to try out a ring flash for the first time. Rubbish ring flash though! It was borrowed from Uni and I had to cellotape it together onto one of my lens 'cause it was broken.

Cosham Fireworks

I haven't been on here for agessss. I'm quite behind on work really, I changed my idea for my brief like, 5 times. What an idiot. But I've finally got it sorted now, first photo shoot this weekend for it. And I should be on a roll. Hopefully it'll be my favourite photo shoot to date. :) I'm really excited about the theme, I've always wanted to do something like this, but never got a chance to.

Otherwise, Uni has been grand. Third year, I only go in once a week which sounds good but it sucks really 'cause I don't ever check my timestable, boo. And I keep missing on everything. I like my new flat, I should really get around to taking photos around it.

Went to Cosham Fireworks on the 4th November with some peoples. Borrowed Laura's lens as she forgot her memory card for her camera lolll. Love you. We stood near the front but someone's enormous head seemed to always been in the way.

Did another photo shoot this week, Hannah was my model. She's beautiful. What are the chances that it was sunny pretty much every day apart from the day I did a shoot, lol. It was raining so much, but she bared through it which was cool.

Going out in Bristol on Sunday for Maarten's birthday. Going Bedlam, seeing DJ Marky & Scratch Perverts again, yay! Really really excited, get to see the whole of Team waste again. Mini reunion before Uni. Although I'm going back next week I think.. need to start the dissertation which I'm really not looking forward to.

The thoughts of it makes me sad. But, get another mini break and going to Newquay hopefully as well.

Went to Paphos, Cyprus for a week with some mates from Uni, it was amazinggg. I can't wait until next year's holiday. Destroyed my liver quite a lot though. Was put off cocktails for the first time in my life 'cause they were way too strong.

We went out for lunch and dinner everyday still though to appreciate the food out there. I didn't eat salad in the past but can kinda handle it now, considering there was so much there. The plate sizes are also ridiculous. HUGE. Desserts there were pretty, took a few on my phone.

Everyone there were really friendly. Cyprus guys were a bit too friendly but alas, happens every country I guess. Charlotte and me went on a glass bottom boat too to see a shipwrecked spanish ship which was cool. They said they didn't see sea turtles for two weeks but we saw one, ha.

We also rode a speed boat too which they just went and let us have all on our own haha. It was so fun though, jumping waves. There were quite a few things we did, but can't be bothered to explain now.

Hot hot HEAT

I didn't want to do anything big on my actual birthday as my holiday was coming up on the 5th so Antony and me decided just to go to the countryside. It was bloody so hot.

Hottest day of the year so far or something. Was melting away. But alas, took some snaps.

Clever me, had forgotten I was pretty much allergic to grass, hay...the outdoors in general and had some massive rash on my face lol. That was pretty.

Summer is looking up, I'm looking forward to doing some snaps over the next couple of months being home. Probably travel around for a bit visiting people. Possibly going to Creamfields festival at the end of August. Maybe another holiday before I go back to Uni. Taking major advantage of free time here. I know I'll be locked away when I'm doing work. Le Sigh.

A story ~ On my 21st birthday (1st July), my mum ran over to me in glee (this would be funny if you knew my mum) that a tiny cactus she planted when she first moved into the house we're in now twenty years ago, bloomed for the first time. On my birthday. So there you have it. In comparison to life, I am a cactus.

Isle of Wight

When all the workload is handed in, one thing I love about being a student who does coursework and has no exams is....the freedom after hand-in dates. I love it. I feel bad seeing everyone revising for exams but I take it as all the freetime I missed out on during my coursework and photo shoots. Ah ~

So as officially, had finished second year just end of May, Gar and me decided to go for a bike ride and tan to Isle of Wight. Considering it's next door to Pompy, never complain about the sun.

Last year. I went to Isle of Wight with James and came to these machines. I remember he was on it for agesss and didn't win anything. And I took one go and won a Yoshi, which I was overrrrjoyed and still have him in my collection. Came across this machine and it pretty much had everyone. Hadn't seen a Peach or Diddy Kong before so I was determined to get at least one of them, no matter how rigged the machines were.

By one point, I had already spent £7, and I stupidly went to get more money. But because I managed to at least drag the Diddy Kong over to the drop-hole, I knew I had to get it. When I turned around, some man flew to the machine and glued onto it, trying to win a toy for his daughter. I was gutted and stared him down. Probably made it obvious I wanted to go back on.

Then he ran out of money and I jumped on the machine, even though he told his 9 year old daughter to guard it, and she failed. And vice versa, he watched me instead. But I was already pissed at this point 'cause he ruined my pathetic gameplan and managed to topple a Wario, Mario and Donkey Kong all around my Diddy Kong which resulted in my most fail - a waste of £14. Le sigh. It was probably cheaper to buy. I had too much high hopes to my Yoshi the year before, winning for 20p.

Apart from the ramble, I really like boats.

Originally, I had two people in mind for this shoot, but as an overall set, it was preferred that one model would be suitable instead.

I was really interested in street fashion though from these two models like in this photo. I was inspired by Nylon Street book. Maybe in the future.

I don't remember which rat it was on his shoulder. But it pissed alot and I laughed even more.

She was a great model and really easy and fun to work with.

Mampi Swift & TC were awesome per usual, the crowd were pretty okay. Didn't get that boshed around for my tiny size. The afterparty was MENTAL. Our house was so packed at one point, I had to climb over the banister to get to the corridor. Everyone was happy. I didn't take any photos, was a bit too smashed at that point. (Photo is from our first bassment party)

Had a dream about Lincoln Barrett from High Contrast, having tea in my house and going around in Hyde Park on scooters with sails, it was epic. If only.

Thought it would be best to start a progression blog of some sort for my during-Uni and after stuff. I looked at my old work from age 14 onwards on deviantart and how terrible I was. Give or take in a few years time, I'll probably think that way about all of this. A blog of improvement.

I think I would forget about this alot so it's best to visit my flickr instead for uploads.

So yeah, seeing Mampi Swift & TC again tonight, holding the after party at ours again. Should be messy. Should be wicked.
